Profile: Having spent his entire childhood in Mumbai, Abhijit had no idea about the magic of the mesmerizing natural world till he visited the Sal forests in his native place in Mayurbhanj, Odisha. It was there that he developed his love for nature and thereafter honed professional skills at IIFM. He has previously worked on community based conservation initiatives across the Indian landscape. He is interested in understanding cultures and relationships between people, nature and development. At Dakshin, his responsibility is to assist the site team in Ganjam, Odisha to initiate and carry forward dialogues with the local communities, government departments and partners, to look into socio-economic wellbeing of coastal communities and encourage these communities to use resources sustainably. When he has nothing to do, he loves watching football.
