Profile: Anurag hails from Chhattisgarh, a state known for its forests and tribal population. Owing to this, he developed an interest in socio-ecological relationships. This propelled him into completing his bachelor’s degree in biology and going on to do a master’s degree in development from Azim Premji University in Bangalore. During his master’s, he conducted research on “Infrastructural development in a protected area- wildlife underpass- NH44 Pench Tiger Reserve ”, which was a reflection of his interest in human-animal interaction. He has also interned with the Centre for Pastoralism, Delhi where he assisted in data analysis for quantifying the economy and mapping of a myriad of pastoralist communities across Himachal Pradesh. He also briefly worked with Gram Vikas; an NGO based in Odisha that works on rural development. There he worked to understand the local governance institutions of different tribal belts in order to facilitate sustainable rural development.
With this background , Anurag believes that diving into the SeaChange initiative enables him to tread on his desired path as well as work for the wellbeing of fishing communities.
Anurag is an amateur badminton player and photographer, a binge-watcher and that guy who is always ready to travel. He is also a foodie at heart.
