Senior Project Assistant- Marine Flagships and Biodiversity Program

Avik has a Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from the Wildlife Conservation Society- India and the National Centre for Biological Sciences (2016). Having joined Dakshin in June 2018, he is a Senior Project Assistant on the long term monitoring project on the reproductive biology of olive ridley sea turtles in Ganjam, Odisha. He is also looking into the population connectivity, long term persistence and habitat use patterns of the Irrawaddy River dolphins at the Chilika Lagoon at Odisha. Going forward, he intends to build on his work with the river dolphins, while also investigating the occupancy patterns of the many species of marine mammals off parts of the country’s eastern coastline.
