Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bapuji Dental College and Hospital, Karnataka, 2018
Profile: Bhawna started her career in dentistry, and during her course work, what interested her the most was public health dentistry. This inculcated a passion to work alongside people for their health and wellness.
Prior to joining Dakshin, Bhawna worked in Assam with IIPH to assess the coverage and out-of-pocket health expenditure under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana campaign. This furthered her interest in enhancing health outcomes in low-resource settings. She has spent most of her life in different parts of India, has a flare for languages, and enjoys travelling, spending time with nature, and meeting new people. In her career, she hopes to integrate field realities at the grassroots and strengthen health system coverage.
At Dakshin Foundation, she works on preventive community health with marginalized coastal communities of Andaman and Nicobar Island and Odisha.
