Pradeep Elangovan

Senior Programme Assistant – Communities and Resource Governance

Qualifications: MSc. Geology, Annamalai University, Chidambaram (2019)

Pradeep is trained as a geologist. However, he understood his subject not only from his syllabus or the laboratory, but observing the environmental issues which arose in Tamil Nadu. Prior to joining Dakshin, he volunteered at “POOVULAGIN NANBARGAL” an organisation which has been raising their voice against environmental problems for over 30 years in Tamil Nadu. He enjoys undertaking research and connect easily with people and he enjoys seeing the world from their perspective.

He would like to see the connections between geology and cultural significance, since geological aspects have a huge role in influencing society. In the past he has worked as a sub-editor in a news portal, which taught me the basic ethics of journalism. He also undertakes some translation for the “PEOPLE ARCHIVE of RURAL INDIA”. He is deeply interested in documentary film-making and photography.
