Environmental Education

Environmental awareness remains the single most powerful tool required to inculcate sensitivity and responsibility towards issues of conservation and sustainability in a significant manner.¬†Outreach programmes at a general, non-formal level provide one path of disseminating information to a large community; however, it is beneficial in the long-term to incorporate environmental education into the earliest levels of mainstream education.¬†With this in mind, Dakshin’s Environmental Education (EE) programme focuses on experience-based education and place-based learning, using the ecosystems living classrooms to foster connections between an individual and the history, culture, economy, literature, art and ecology of their surrounding community.
